Sony Rocket Project

Today's Sony VAIO laptop has more computing power than the first rocket to reach the moon. So we asked ourselves, would it be possible to launch a rocket using some really smart kids and a Sony VAIO? Probably not. But we threw the question to our creative director anyway. He had no idea either, but told us to throw the question to our client. The client thought we were crazy, but the client WAS crazy, and gave us a bunch of money to try it out anyway.

Once we really got into it, we knew this was interesting stuff. Maybe interesting enough for a TV show. So when Mother Nature threw a longer than expected weather delay at us, we thought “let’s package up some of what we’ve got and pitch this to a network.” Eight months later, what started as a web series became a prime time special premiering on The Science Channel.
